Parking Information:
Parking is scarce in Cooperstown. On many streets, parking is limited to two hours and the time limit is STRICTLY ENFORCED. Park for vehicles over 20 feet in length is not available within the Village and persons with vehicles of this size are asked to utilize the trolley services.
The Village of Cooperstown encourages all visitors to park for FREE in three perimeter parking lots during the summer season:
* Blue Lot: just south of the Village on State Route 28
* Yellow Lot: just northwest of the Village on State Route 80
*Red Lot: accessed from Glen Avenue (Routes 28/80) near Maple Street
All three lots are serviced by the Village of Cooperstown Trolley System. Trolley tickets cost $2.00 per person and can be used for unlimited rides on a given day. Season trolley passes are also available for individuals and families.
For those walking, the Red lot is 6/10 mile and the Blue lot is approximately one mile from the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. There are not continuous sidewalks from the Yellow lot to downtown Cooperstown.
For those who must park more centrally for an extended period of time, a Village-owned parking lot adjacent to Doubleday Field can be accessed from both Chestnut Street and Main Street. This lot is a paid lot daily from 9 AM to 6 PM, Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day and weekends only after Labor Day through Columbus Day. Parking in this lot costs $2.00 per hour with a maximum fee of $10.00 per day. Tickets can be purchased at either entrance as early as 7 AM. Tickets purchased before 9 AM are time stamped to begin at 9 AM.
For those who only need to park for a short period, on-street parking is available in the downtown area. On Main Street from Pine Boulevard to River Street and on Pioneer Street from Church Street north to the end of the business district parking is paid from 9 AM to 6 PM, Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day. The fee is $2.00 per hour and there is a 2-hour time limit. Pay and Display machines are conveniently located throughout the downtown area to pay for on-street parking during the summer season.
Visitors during the off-season should seek parking in the Doubleday Field parking lot or for short periods of less than 2 hours in on-street parking places. The trolleys serving the perimeter lots run weekends, 9 AM - 5 PM, from Memorial Day weekend through mid-June; they run daily, 8:30 AM - 9 PM, from mid-June through Labor Day.
If you have questions or comments about parking or the trolley system, please contact the Village offices at (607) 547-2411 during regular business hours.
