  3. Green Yard Waste

The Village picks up green waste on the last Thursday of each month. Leaves are picked up more frequently in the fall.

Place any soft green waste in compostable bags (not plastic bags) or in reusable hard plastic or metal containers. The Village will pick up compostable yard waste and brush/sticks separately. There will be two pickups per street, one for soft green waste and a second for brush.

Place containers with soft green waste between the sidewalk and the curb. Avoid non-compostable materials like plastic flower pots and do not assume that we can lift containers that you cannot lift.

Place brush in a pile between the curb and sidewalk separate from green waste. We can only take material that will go through our shredder so avoid root balls, stumps, large tree limbs, construction debris, and processed lumber. We will pick up Christmas trees.

In the fall, leaves can be placed loose between the curb and sidewalk. You should not use plastic or paper bags or hard containers as we will pick them up using the leaf vacuum. Do not place leaves in the street where they can clog drains and lead to flooding.

Residents may also bring green waste to the Village Street Garage on Linden Avenue and deposit it themselves in the appropriate area. Commercial dumping is prohibited.
