Did you know that on average each person produces 4.5 lbs. of trash per day? That’s around 9,000 lbs. per day in just the Village of Cooperstown alone!

Otsego County provides residents and businesses with single-stream recycling, where paper, plastic, metal, and glass are all placed in the same recycling container and sorted at the facility. You take your own recyclables for free to the Otsego County Northern Transfer Station, located on the east side of Highway 28/80 approximately one mile north of the Village of Cooperstown.

Check out Otsego County’s “How Do I Get Rid Of…” link for more information on how to dispose of specific items. https://www.otsegocountyny.gov/departments/solid_waste/how_do_i_get_rid_of_.php

We are pleased that the Village Library provides a recycling site for plastic bags and films. Accepted plastics are displayed on the recycling bins in the library hallway at 22 Main Street. All plastic bags must be clean.
