Parks And Recreation
Unfortunately due to COVID-19 restrictions, Village beaches at Three Mile Point and Fairy Springs will not be ready to welcome visitors in time for the upcoming Memorial Day holiday weekend despite Governor Cuomo opening state beaches.
The restrictions included in Governor Cuomo’s May 15th briefing include mandating no more than 50% capacity, limiting parking, enforcing social distancing of 6 feet or more and wearing of masks by visitors and employees if a 6 foot social distance cannot be maintained.
Further restrictions at the parks under the Governor’s May 15 mandate include closure of the pavilions and picnic areas to discourage social gatherings, as well as group contact activities.
The Village cannot open these Parks at all for swimming, until we receive the necessary permits from the New York State Department of Health. During this difficult time, the primary goal is to protect the public’s health and safety. It is our hope that we will receive approval to open swimming areas with mandated certified lifeguards in place, in the next month or so.
Please be assured that as the NY Forward, reopening process continues, we will be doing our best to ensure that our community can enjoy at least a partial season at our summer parks this year.
