The Village of Cooperstown municipal water system is regulated by NYS. The Village’s Water Treatment
Plant ensures water purity in a multi-step process which includes coagulation to remove solids,
sedimentation, filtration, addition of chlorine and activated carbon adsorption. The chlorine used for
disinfection kills bacteria, viruses and other microorganisms. All these processes along with daily
testing ensure the safety of our drinking water.
